Meet Dr. Maria DeLeonibus

Oral Surgeon in Mentor, Highland Heights, Bainbridge Township OH

Dr. Maria A. DeLeonibus is originally from Annapolis, Maryland, but has close family ties to the Cleveland area. She attended John Carrol University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Latin and Classical Studies. While in undergraduate school, she contributed to several research projects at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation working in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Lerner Research Institute. After undergraduate school, she matriculated into dental school at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine where she served as class president and completed her studies in 2019. Following this, she completed a 1-year internship at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals with the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. After which, she furthered her training by attending an accredited four-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio at the University of Cincinnati’s Department of General Surgery’s Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery of which she recently completed her training in the summer of 2024. 

 

While in residency, she received training in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery working at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), the Nation’s #1 Children’s Hospital, University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC), a Level 1 Trauma Center, and the Cincinnati VA Hospital. She has attended multiple OMS conferences and educational courses relating to the advancements in the field and has maintained membership in multiple professional organizations and societies. She is board-eligible for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. She is certified in ATLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Upon return to the Cleveland area, she intends to serve as a volunteer instructor at Case Western Reserve University to the OMS residents and dental students. 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and her English yellow Labrador Retriever, Leo, and also enjoys attending Cleveland sports games, traveling, cycling and golfing.
